Innovation, a key driving force of economic development, and culture, as one of the main influences on human behavior, play increasingly significant roles in a globalized world. Previous research has examined their interrelations, emphasizing the importance of cultural awareness in shaping innovation activities. This study contributes to existing literature by exploring the impact of national cultural values on innovation in Germany and Taiwan. Using an exploratory approach, the study compares national culture through cultural dimensions and innovations through selected indicators such as research and development, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and education, inter alia, on a national level. Additionally, it contrasts the research and development activities of three high-technology firms from each country. The findings underline the complex and ambiguous relationship between cultural values and innovation and highlight the significance of cultural awareness in cross-cultural innovation environments.
