    Abstract: 唐宋間是古代中國思想基調的轉折期，為何以發生此一轉折？其間有無可資理解的現實脈絡？過去，思想史論述多側重內在理路的勾勒，而未克兼及思想賴以形成的現實環境。以本計劃主題中唐「天人之分」論的形成與發展過程觀之，頗有學者歸因於安史之亂的衝擊、甚至有以兩稅法為由者。究諸事實，天人之分論的主要論旨實濫觴於開元前後，安史之亂、兩稅法至多發揮了催化的作用，其間應存在值得深入理解的長期脈絡。其次，天人之分論不是孤立的哲學思辨，而與持論者的政治社會態度有關。基於此一思考，本計劃擬以唐代士人自省風氣為主軸，探討中唐柳宗元、劉禹錫的天人之分論的來源及其相關課題。根據筆者目前對唐代天人之分論及相關課題的認識，本計劃擬探究下幾項主題：(1) 唐代的士人自省之風；(2)天人之分論的形成、發展及其主要內容；(3)柳宗元、劉禹錫的天人之分論及其政治社會論。以天人之分論為主軸檢視中唐柳、劉二人的政治社會論，尤其是士人論的主要內涵，以期深入理解唐代士人與政治社會的複雜關係。
