As the electronic business industry in Taiwan is more and more maturing, a new challenge arises, that is, how to provide high value added partner relationship and successful business model through e-service in order to increase competitiveness of industries as a whole. In response to the ever increasing global competitions, Taiwan government is pushing the industries to establish headquarters, global logistic centers, and research centers in Taiwan in order to help the industries to transform and compete. A scrutiny of current Partner Relationship Management (PRM) systems, however, reveals that they are mostly limited to integrate supply chain management systems that emphasize profit creation under supply chain systems. As such, it could not fully utilize the potential of partner relationship. Very few businesses have designed and used an e-procurement system that is flexible enough to handle different partner relationships. This study aims to develop a new model of partner relationship and revitalize the most important interface between businesses–the e-procurement system. First, we will explore the factors that affect the degree of partner relationship and the ways a business strengthens the PRM. Second, the roles of Business-to-Business (B2B) e-services across different industries, and the effects on organizations after deploying PRM systems will be analyzed. Third, a flexible e-procurement system will be developed using Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) in order to demonstrate the effect of e-service on PRM. Finally, we will evaluate the e-service capability and the organizational performance of a business after implementing PRM. This study will develop and evaluate a model of partner relationship bond and use it to explain the different e-service capabilities of different companies in industries. Furthermore, it will develop management strategies and organization behavior theory relating to e-services.
