Abstract:	本研究計畫藉由分析台灣銀行業1998至2006年的資料，探討 (1)公司治理以及 (2)成本綜效及成本節省對銀行業效率的影響。本計畫首先延續過去文獻，就成本及規模效率來比較公民營銀行是否擁有各自的競爭優勢，以及公營銀行是否應與民營銀行合併。此外，針對銀行業中主要的公司治理機制，包括民營化、本國銀行間合併及外資購併等，可能對績效產生重大且不一致的影響，本計畫將其納入同一計量模型中考量。以此方式將可避免只考量單一機制時模型錯誤設定 model misspecification) 的問題以及偏誤的結果。最後，本計畫就銀行業在參與銀行保險時是否能達到成本綜效及成本節省作一探討。本計畫的實證結果對民營化及二次金改的政策，乃至於鼓勵外資進行購併與否將有重要的意義。另外，本計畫也將對本國銀行是否擴大對銀行保險的參與度提供建議。
