    Abstract: 第一章，先由《搜神記》一書的相關資料與干寶生平與創作理念開始，並在前人研究之上，提出對「祥瑞」和「災異」的定義。
    而第二、三章便從自然和人事物二類探討《搜神記》祥瑞災異部分。第四章則以相近作品《拾遺記》、《搜神後記》以及《異苑》作一簡介比較。在祥瑞災異此部分上，有「多引述或被〈五行志〉引述」、「以國家政事為主要關懷對象」、「直指亂源所在」以及「較多個人主觀評判」等特色。
    第五章主要是建立在第二、三、四章的基礎之上，從政治性，社會性、實用性、心理性與藝術性等五方面進行分析討論。前三部分主要和祥瑞災異的功能意義有關，分別從對政治、社會的批評中，看到政治爭奪本質的黑暗，於是以「聖君賢臣」作為理想政治的期待。並在亂象亂世的生存焦慮中，結合神鬼乃實有的想像，欲以補史心態貫穿博物與祥瑞災異的警示；後兩部分則從審美心理特性作一個討論，從魏晉人矛盾的心理，看到對於亂世的恐懼，並尋找安心的過程。反映在藝術審美上，即表現了較為特殊的審美情趣，即以變異的話語，利用言不盡意的包容性，展現以奇為美的藝術手法，藉以彰顯和突出《搜神記》祥瑞災異的獨特性。
    第六章結論部分，則作一回顧，並從上述幾章的分析可知，祥瑞災異之所以屢屢出現在《搜神記》中，是因為干寶將祥瑞災異視為政治，又或是社會秩序的反映，其中緣由，牽涉到了天人感應、五行、史學書寫、審美角度等方面的問題，這些現象，也說明了在亂世危機的失序中，一種對生存的關注和重建秩序的渴求。
