Abstract:	筆者於2008 年將多年的研究成果整理出版《台灣人的抵抗與認同1920-1950》一書，試圖突破以統治政權為歷史分期依據的政治史研究傳統，將台灣人政治運動與政治認同形成過程跨於1920-1950 年之間，進行探討。該研究聚焦在國族主義面向的貫時性研究，並以自治運動及相關人士為主要觀察對象。研究過程中，因為研究而接觸各種史料後，愈發體認到台灣留日學生與時代環境脈動的關係，及殖民母國日本、大正民主思潮的影響。一九二O到一九三O 年代台灣的政治運動、文化運動、社會運動、共產主義運動與日本國內大正民主運動有亦步亦趨的現象；其次，台灣知識人與日本、朝鮮、中國知識界之間的互動關連，及其所反映台灣在東亞近代化過程中所居的位置等等，這些現象與隱藏在其中的意義，都有重新梳理、追索的必要。
