    Abstract: 本人先前研究顯示：台灣受試者的善意性別歧視信念預測其性別歧視行為，美國受試者的惡意性別歧視信念預測其性別歧視行為。本計劃進一步探討此文化差異的原因。在台灣，儒家學說影響我們重視以和為貴，當台灣受試者分配有限資源時，可能透過區隔強、弱者(期待強者照顧弱者，要求弱者遵從強者)，達到儒家追求的和諧境界，故其善意性別歧視信念預測其性別歧視行為。相對地，美國人可能因信奉菁英制度，相信弱肉強食是個人能力或努力差異的必然結果，故其惡意性別歧視信念預測其性別歧視行為。本研究計畫提出四個研究檢驗以上假設。第一年研究一探討，美式風格的台灣受試者是否在美國文物促發下，較易有相似美國受試者的反應，其惡意性別歧視信念預測其性別歧視行為。第一年研究二探討，對雙文化受試者(此指曾客居美國六個月以上的台灣受試者)，促發傳統台灣文物時，是否其善意性別歧視信念預估其性別歧視行為？相對地，當促發傳統美國文物時，是否其惡意性別歧視信念預估其性別歧視行為？第二年的研究一改以台灣常見的相依情境與美國常見的獨立情境為促發刺激，並檢驗是否能複製第一年的研究結果。第二年的研究二則改以族群團體為可能歧視對象，以進一步擴展可能解釋的範疇。
    According to Lee, Pratto, & Li (2007), Taiwanese participants’’ support of benevolent sexism, but not their support of hostile sexism, predicted their discriminatory behavior in favor of men over women. Conversely, American participants’’ support of hostile sexism, but not their support of benevolent sexism, predicted their discriminatory behavior in favor of men over women. This paper directly examines the relations between interdependence and benevolent sexism and between competition and individualism with hostile sexism. Supporting evidence was found in a survey study and an experimental study.
