Abstract:	平均而言，全世界每天會發生一次災難，它可能是水災、颶風、地震，或是人為災害，如槍殺、車禍等，依DSM-Ⅳ對壓力源的界定，其終生流行率在80%以上（Breslau, Kessler, Chilcoat, Schultz, Davis, & Andreski, 1998; Joseph, Mynard, & Mayall, 2000）。雖然災難事件多元，但均有其共通特性，即發生前幾乎是沒有預警、在很短的時間內發生，會使個體失去控制感，及通常發生在很多人身上（Miller, 1998）。就這些特性而言，台灣的88 水災是一天然災害，對台灣人而言，也是一項創傷，因為88 水災造成台灣有463 人死亡，190 人失蹤，46 人受傷，以及至少近四千戶的房屋受損，至於財物的損失則是相當大。創傷事件在任何人身上皆會引發明顯的心理痛苦或症狀，這些反應包括個人生命及生活受到威脅，面對家破、傷亡引發的傷痛，社區的瓦解及持續的困境等。由於災難具有如此高的盛行率及高壓性，如何瞭解這些災難事件對個體的心理衛生及健康有何衝擊，成為近年來國際學者研究的興趣（Norris, Friedman, Watson, Byrne, Diaz, & Kaniasty, 2002）。
