Abstract:	台灣在86年修正老人福利法，特別增列保護措施專章，同年家庭暴力防治法通過，法中要求各縣(市)設置家庭暴力防治中心，開啟了法入家門的時代。老人保護工作發展雖有十年的經驗脈絡可循，但相較於兒童少年保護及家庭暴力防治，國內有關老人保護之各項文獻資料較為不足，而網絡資源明顯缺乏，老人保護受重視的程度遠遠不如家庭暴力防治工作。　　隨著社會結構及道德觀念的改變，各類型的老人虐待已非單一個案或家庭事件，在民國96年老人福利法之修法過程，有關「保護措施」、「經濟安全」及「罰則」等章節做了許多修正，從法令上賦予地方政府對於老人保護工作有更大的使命與任務，期能為長輩的人身安全保障及生命尊嚴，共同建構更完善的保護傘，但徒有法案而未有足夠的社工人力來推動，立法之美意將大打折扣，因此，老人保護之社工人力是值得重視的議題。本文先就目前台灣老人保護工作推動的歷史加以分析，其次探討各縣市老人保護工作的現況，進而推估老人保護社工人力的需求，最後研提建議，以供未來推動老人保護政策之參考。
