Economy changes leads to economic slump and high unemployment rate in Taiwan. Media also focus on the phenomena and do a lot of coverage about poverty. The goal of this article is to analyst how media report people in poverty, and will the commercial characteristic of media affect the way to report? This research found that the way to report poverty is more and more sensational and there are three typical type:crime, tragedy, and ridiculous cases. People in poverty to some extent were translated into commodities in the market by media, and media can get benefit from these news stories. Media make poverty become something for consume rather than a public issue need to be concerned about.
