    Title: 文化背景對移民子女科系特性選擇影響

    Abstract: 在美國,繁複多元的移民文化為美國帶來不同國家的色彩。雖都身處同一塊土地,
    但各國移民家庭對於子女表現有著不同的期待。如中國和印度移民家庭對於子女學術
    表現期待甚高。伊朗裔移民對於薪資報酬高以及聲望高的科系特別注重。因此本文想
    要探討這些移民原生國的文化如何影響科系特性選擇的傾向。
    本研究採用 2009 年到2013 年間美國American Community Survey (ACS)大學學歷
    以上的樣本。針對樣本選擇之科系具有的特性,探討移民子女選擇科系是否會受到原
    生國文化影響。本研究參考科系對應Occupational Information Network (O*net)的方式
    (Freeman,2008),輔以National Survey of College Graduates (NSCG)之資料計算各年份
    各科系出路職業的比例,算出各年份各科系預期報酬。就選擇科系方面,考慮科系對
    於職業薪資預期報酬、科系對於職業聲望預期報酬、科系對於職業所需人才預期報酬。
    並藉以Hofstede 國家文化指標衡量對科系預期報酬的影響,捕捉各原生國文化如何影
    響移民子女科系特性選擇的傾向。
    本研究發現台灣裔、中國裔以及印度裔移民子女較當地人傾向選擇預期薪資較
    高或是預期職業聲望較高的科系。再者,進一步探討各國文化差異對科系選擇的影響。
    發現當國家文化的個人主義指標越高,越不傾向選擇預期薪資報酬較高的科系;而剛
    性氣質指標越高,即文化越競爭、越追求實質金錢報酬,則傾向選擇預期薪資報酬較
    高的科系。至於性別差異方面,男性較不害怕風險,較會協商敢於競爭,所以不確定
    性風險趨避指標對預期薪資報酬不顯著;而女性相對於男性較討厭風險,則此指標為
    顯著負向影響。
