Abstract:	起源于17世紀的社會契約是現代社會統治正當性的基礎。社會契約論離不開終極關懷(對上帝的信仰)和理性的二元分裂。與理性并立的終極關懷(它是道德的基礎)是維系社會契約論有效性的前提。一旦終極關懷退出社會組織,古典的社會契約論就不再成立,必須用更為廣泛的道德契約論取而代之。在此意義上,20世紀70年代后以羅爾斯正義論為代表的假想式契約論(hypotheticalcontractarianism)獲得廣泛影響。這意味著現代社會組織藍圖從社會契約論向道德契約論(moralcontractarianism)的轉化。社會契約論的演變證明現代世界正在走出軸心文明。
