    Abstract: 推與廷議，一篇對朝廷官員遷轉之擬請，一為對朝廷大事行止之議論。廷議已見本學報第二十七期，今專論廷推。所謂廷推，即大臣缺員之時，由吏部集會九卿等官推舉合格者數員，呈請皇帝簡用。以其會官推舉，故又稱會推。其不經廷推，天子親自選用者，謂之特簡，或稱特旨、親擢。特簡與廷推為明代任用大僚主要方法。（註一）明史：凡陞遷必考滿，若員缺應補不待滿者曰推陞。內閣大學士吏部尚書由廷推或奉特旨，侍郎以下及祭酒，吏部會同三品以上廷推，太常卿以下部推。……在外官惟督撫廷推，九卿共之，吏部主之。（卷七一選舉志三）大明會典亦載：舊制，陞必滿考，若員缺當補不待考滿者曰推陞。……閣臣、吏兵二部尚書，會大九卿五品以上官及科道廷推。凡尚書、侍郎、都御史、通政使、大理卿缺，皆令六部、都察院、通政司、大理寺三品以上官廷推。（卷五吏部四推陞）
