    認知評價理論(cognitive evaluation theory)認為個人行為的自我控制感以及能力感會影響內在動機。本研究的目的即是探討在相同目標下不同的目標訊息(能力訊息與控制訊息)會如何影響個體的內在動機。
    本研究採用實驗法,研究的樣本是政治大學學生99名,受試被隨機分派到三個實驗組(這三組受試需完成的目標相同,但是他們得到的目標訊息不同,分別為無其它訊息、能力訊息與控制訊息)和一個控制組(沒有設定目標),實驗作業為七巧板拼圖,每一位受試皆做作業15分鐘,然後測量其內在動機,內在動機的指標有三個:態度測量(受試對作業的興趣以及喜好程度)和行為測量(實驗結束後的休息期間,受試繼續做作業的時間)。
    實驗結果採用二因子變異數及Dunn的事前考驗分析,分析時每一個實驗組又區分為達到目標和未達到目標兩組,然後進行一些統計檢驗。結果顯示:(1)控制訊息組受試,不論目標達到與否,其內在動機均較控制組受試低(2)無其它訊息組與能力訊息組受試,不論達到目標與否,其內在動機均與控制組受試無差異。最後本研究以認知評價理論把結果加以討論。
