Abstract:	本論文依據左傳史料。探究五霸形象。並綜合公羊、榖梁、國語、史記及諸子的資料。作一分析比較。首章緒論，探討人物形象的內涵、五霸的界定以及左傳五霸之名。第二章到第六章是論文的主體，每章分別以歷史事實探討一位霸主，齊桓公從重用管鮑起就表現了不凡的器識，他不僅為自己創了霸業，且為周天子，以及將衷的民族文化重建尊嚴。宋襄公以殷商遺族。爭霸中原，雖然受挫最多，但永不屈服的姿態很值得注意。秦穆公只有獨霸西戎，而其冷靜沈潛的務實作風、善用人才的襟抱，一直為後世稱道。晉文公起於憂患之中，流亡前後的堅忍練達，為晉國建霸尊定基礎。楚莊王的崛起，不論在文化或武功方面，都顯現了無窮潛能。邲之一戰強調武德，不僅接受了中原文，化而且成為激勵中華文化成長的新血輪。第七章結論。比較五霸形象的異同外，並就其對文學、思想史、及歷史文化等層面的影響，作一總結。
