Abstract:	本文在研究方法上採取敘述與分析並重之原則。第一章說明美國外交政策之背景及其對非洲概括之外交關係。第二章敘述南非共和國對外關係之背景，並旁及南非對外政策之目標。第三章則針對美斐間之經濟、礦產資源、戰略地位與軍事合作等關係做一詳細的分析。第四章則就南非共和國之種族隔離政策對美斐關係的影響做一解剖，此外，世界輿論的影響亦做相當的分析。第五章則專就美國與南非共和國現階段的關係做一敘述，並對卡特政府與尼克森政府對南非政策的異同做一番比較。第六章則就兩國間未來可能的考驗做一分析，並試圖做一些預測與簡評。
