    Abstract: 本篇論文主要是以歷史發展及社會發展及社會變遷為背景，討論在戰後一九四七年到一九五七年的獅子山政治發展中，克里歐人所處的地位反應及受到影響。
    獅子山的克里歐人是一個有著光輝歷史和驕傲傳統的種族，在獅子山許多種族之中，他們最早接觸到西方文明，並受到殖民政府優惠的待遇，他們曾在獅子山的經濟、教育及社會上有著傑出成就，而他們的政治力量也受到殖民政府重視，在早期，他們便已在獅子山社會中形成了一種特殊階級。他們的階級地位也受到殖民政府承認。
    廿世紀初期，克里歐人的優越地位開始受到挑戰。一次大戰後，英屬西非各殖民地在民族主義潮流衝衝擊之下，紛紛以憲政改革方式，擴大非洲人的政治參與。獅子亦不例外。本文便是以獅子山憲政發展各階段為徑，各階段背後的複雜社會因素為緯，探討影響克里歐人政治上沒落的原因。
    本篇論文，基於一項假設，即是在一個民主政治發展中的國家，由於政治參與的擴大，少數民族或社會ELITE政治力量的獲得及維持是在於能否結合民眾，作者嘗試從對克里歐人沒落的研究中證實此項假設。
    本篇論文在寫作過程中，承蒙外交研究所教授杜毅伯師悉心指導，釋疑解惑，受益匪淺，復蒙外交研究所金神保、楊逢泰兩位老師借閱有關資料，本篇論文始能完成，作者謹在此致以最大謝意。由於國內有關獅子山方面參考資料不多，作者雖盡力＊集，所獲得資料仍大多屬於次料，如書籍、雜誌、期刊等，因此本篇論文疏漏的地方在所難免，以後如有機會，必當繼續研究、補充闕疑，這是本文作者最大的願望。
