    Abstract: 聲韻之學，約言之，有古音、今音、等韻三者，尤以等韻焉最有條理且最為細密，等韻包括組成字音之各種要素，如韻之等第、開合、重輕、內外轉，聲之部位、清濁及調之平、上、去、入等。等韻不明，則古音今音亦不能明，余所以研之，此其一。
    近人趙蔭棠等韻源流言等韻之分期及其變遷，曰：
    第一期：等韻之醞釀——六朝至唐宋。
    第二期：等韻之成二——兩宋
    第三期：等韻之改革——元、明、清。
    第四期：等韻之批評及研究——明清至現代
    梁僧寶屬清人，其書大異乎早期之等韻圖，余所以研之，此其二。
    宋元乃等韻大盛時期，雖皆標明為今音而設，然門法林立，或異名同實、或同名異實，梁氏書則綜合眾說，解蔽障，闡宗旨，余所以研之，此其三。
    梁氏歸字之多， 羅之廣，遠勝一切等韻書，余所以研之，此其四。
    宗元等韻書甚多衍文、闕文、訛字、誤等，梁氏書則考覈精確，準此可以廣校前修之疏，余所以研之，此其五。
    梁氏之等韻著作有切韻求蒙與四聲韻譜，求蒙旨同韻鏡、七音略、四聲等子、切韻指掌圖與切韻指南等書，體例亦出於宋元韻圖，韻譜則為梁氏首創，切韻系之音幾盡納於韻 之中，形同韻書又似韻圖，實兼兩者之長也。
    愚論之重點在於校注全書之單字音，旁參韻鏡、七音略、四聲等子、切韻指掌圖、玉篇、廣韻、集韻等書，逐字逐圖均經對照比較，舉凡闕列、訛誤、互異者，皆按次標出與校訂，可觀者或在此也。
