    Title: 「真實」的復歸:擴增實境遊戲 ingress社會文化意義之分析

    Abstract: Ingress 是原屬Google 公司的Niantic 公司於2013 年公開推出的擴增實境(Augmented Reality,AR)遊戲(但於2012 年即實施封測)。不同於既有虛擬實境(Virtual Reality, VR)的線上遊戲,Ingress 的遊戲設計使得玩家一方面必須行走與真實世界中,另一方面卻得經由手機上所安裝的APP,才能看到架構在真實世界之上的虛擬實境。基於作者一年來的參與觀察,本研究企圖釐清AR 線上遊戲與VR 線上遊戲在社會文化意義上的差異。M. McLuhan 在分析電話的社會文化意義時,曾經用一個生動的比喻來凸顯電話這個媒介本身的影響。他說電話的出現讓應召女郎(call girl)取代了阻街女郎。類似於此,AR 遊戲的影響,也不同於過去VR 線上遊戲造成足不出戶、廢寢忘時等網路沉迷的問題。循此,過去對網際網路等電子媒介或是線上遊戲之影響所做的分析,可以用法國思想家P. Virilio 的論述為代表。Virilio 認為電子媒介的即時(real time)性質,將導致真實空間(real space)的消失。從而也造成佔據著空間的身體的消失,讓人們變成遲鈍(inertia)的存在,甚至衝擊了人類的本質。但本研究主張,AR 線上遊戲結合了真實世界與虛擬實境的特性,逆轉了這樣的發展趨勢。本研究以真實的復歸為題,依序從最顯而易見的空間的復歸開始,延伸至時間的復歸、身體的復歸、與人際關係的復歸等方面來呈現AR 遊戲的特性。甚至以研究者個人所參與策劃的一個結合Ingress 的社會運動,以及這一年多以來醞釀設計經驗研究時的挑戰為例,來說明AR 線上遊戲,尤其是Ingress 對社會運動與經驗研究的影響。
    Ingress, an augmented reality(AR) game, was developed by Niantic Laboratory of Google in 2012. But according to our detailed literature review, only very few scholars have paid attentions to the cultural and social significance of Ingress so far. Implementing the GPS technology in the mobile phones and Google map database to combine the virtual reality(VR) game and the real world, Ingress requires players to walk in the real world in order to occupy various virtual portals in the game/world. This is quite different from the ordinary VR online games.
