The Department of Green Architecture pursues the sustainable architectural design concept for the earth's environmental protection. The Architecture and Building Research Institute of Ministry of the Interior encourages the construction of energy-saving, water-saving, material- saving, and low-pollution green buildings, which help construct a comfortable, healthy, and environmentally friendly living environment. The "Green Building Mark" has been open for application since September 1st, 1999. The Executive Yuan launched the Green Building Promotion Program in 2001. The program requires public buildings with a budget of more than 50 million NTD to obtain the Green Building Candidate Certificate. Meanwhile, the cooperation with the promulgation of the Public Building Green Building Label Promotion Operation Points has significantly increased the number of green building label certifications in Taiwan, making it a rare green building policy achievement in the world. However, after many years of promoting green building policies in Taiwan, there are still few discussions and analyses on the social and economic backgrounds of owners of buildings that have obtained the "Green Building Label" and non-green building labels. Besides, the use of household electricity by green building owners and non-green building owners is still unknown, making it impossible to fully judge the overall picture of the actual implementation of the policy.
