| 摘要: | 為了探詢女性化妝經驗,找到對化妝經驗適切的言說,本研究採取李維倫、賴憶嫺(2009)的現象學方法,分析四位研究參與者的訪談資料。研究分析獲得女性化妝經驗的描述為:「覺察、參與和照顧自己面容在種種觀看中的呈現」,其中化妝者經驗到種種觀看面容的眼睛,而抵達到一種能夠「觀看自己面容為獨一無二的樣子的眼睛」。而化妝經驗之過程可由八個主題說明:(1)投入化妝的起始狀態:經驗到一種「看到他人化妝而好看」的眼睛,從而經驗到自己處於「被注視之面容為好看的世界之外」。(2)當化妝者想要學習化妝,化妝品的世界、自己的面容對化妝者顯現。(3)化妝者獲得化妝、處理自己面容的能力,進入了「面容被注視為好看的世界」。(4)化妝者經驗一個與同儕一同拓展、構築而共享的化妝世界。(5)化妝者經驗到一種轉動自己樣子的餘裕,依循「多重感官與回饋經驗」變換自己的樣子,同時照顧自己。(6)化妝者掌握不同環境中人們經驗面容的眼睛,並變換面容,融入不同環境之中。(7)化妝者經驗一個觀看自己面容為獨一無二的樣子的眼睛。(8)他人眼睛的參與讓經驗者失去對自己面容的擁有,也讓化妝者重獲對自己面容的擁有。 基於上述分析結果,本研究一方面與心理學、女性主義中關於化妝的論述對話,另一方面指出化妝為一種自我照顧的途徑。此外亦與作為人存在之根本結構之鏡像經驗相互對照,最後說明化妝療法的作用及應用方式。 In order to explore women's experiences of makeup and to find an appropriate language to articulate these experiences, this study adopts the phenomenological method proposed by Lee and Lai (2009). The interview data from four participants were analyzed, resulting in the following description of women's makeup experience: "becoming aware of, engaging with, and caring for the appearance of one’s face in various forms of seeing." Make-up wearers encounter different eyes that view their faces, and through this, arrive at a gaze that sees “the uniqueness of one’s own facial appearance.” And the process of the make-up experience can be described through eight themes: (1) The initial state of engaging in make-up: The individual experiences an eye that “sees others become beautiful through make-up,” and thus feels outside of a world where “a face being gazed upon is beautiful.” (2) When the individual desires to learn make-up, the world of cosmetics and their own face become revealed to them. (3) The make-up wearer acquires the skill of applying make-up and managing her face, thereby entering “a world where faces are gazed upon as beautiful.” (4) The make-up wearer experiences a shared world of make-up, co-constructed and expanded with peers. (5) The individual experiences a sense of flexibility in transforming their appearance, changing it in response to "multi-sensory and feedback experiences" to change how they look while also taking care of herself. (6) The make-up wearer becomes attuned to how people in different environments perceive faces, and adapts her appearance accordingly to integrate into various settings. (7) The make-up wearer experiences a gaze that sees her facial appearance as uniquely her own. (8) The gaze of others can both take away and restore a sense of ownership over one’s facial appearance. Based on the above analysis, the study engages with psychological and feminist discourses on makeup, and further identifies makeup as a form of self-care. In addition, it juxtaposes the makeup experience with the mirror experience. Finally, it proposes the functions and applications of cosmetic therapy. |
