The motivation for this study stems from the researcher’s lived experiences as an educator, a popular music practitioner, and a mindfulness facilitator. This research aims to design a mindfulness-based curriculum to support modern adults facing psychological stress in cultivating inner balance and well-being. The theoretical foundation integrates mindfulness theory, the PERMA model from positive psychology, research on popular music, and Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development. In terms of curriculum design, the program incorporates elements such as positive psychology goals, mindfulness practices, musical experiences, and life story sharing. This study adopts an action research methodology, following the cyclical model of “planning–action–observation–reflection” to guide curriculum revision and evaluate its effectiveness. Spanning a total of three years, the action research was conducted in two phases. The initial phase took place from September 2022 to September 2024, during which the curriculum was implemented in three rounds, involving a total of 109 participants. The revised version, based on reflective analysis, was implemented from November to December 2024 with 53 participants. Participants in both phases ranged in age from 20 to 65. The revision process focused on improving the coherence among instructional goals, content flow, and implementation logic, thereby strengthening the integration among the three curriculum modules: the “popular music intervention module,” the “mindfulness practice module,” and the “positive psychology module.” Findings indicate that this mindfulness program—integrating positive psychology and popular music—was effective in enhancing participants’ self-awareness, emotional regulation, sense of well-being, and life meaning. Popular music served as a bridge that facilitated awareness, transformation, and personal narrative within the mindfulness process. Overall, the program demonstrated cultural sensitivity and resonated with Erikson’s perspectives on adult developmental stages. Finally, the study offers critical reflections and practical recommendations concerning curriculum design, implementation strategies, music selection, and cultural translation. |
