Title:	鄉關何處―周金波的殖民地之旅

Abstract:	過去對於周金波作品的討論，多半集中在他最為評論者所熟知之〈志願兵〉、〈水癌〉等主題意識明確的小說，至於以旅行者之第一人稱展開敘事的〈鄉愁〉則相對地較少引發研究者以之為專題討論的興趣。在〈鄉愁〉之前，由於周金波作品中一再重現的二律背反佈局與主題，因此很容易在「日本人vs．台灣人」「皇民vs．抵抗者」等絕對論述架構下，被分類化為傾向某種擬制的光譜，包括指涉周金波的〈鄉愁〉是朝著「皇民之道」摸索過程中，描述一個希望成為「皇民」的人，不得不孤立在台灣，卻又終究無法成為「皇民」，被故鄉拒於千里之外，無法回去東京的苦痛「閉塞感」。然而，當我們將周金波由「日治時期台灣文學」或甚至「皇民文學」這些明確卻又充滿絕對價值判斷的光譜中抽繹出來，與佐藤春夫的帝國書寫進行對位分析，就會發現周金波的〈鄉愁〉，是立足在一個超越彼時空下台灣文學框架，模擬或等同帝國中心意識之主觀平台，對殖民地的再呈現。是帝國中心思維的殖民地之旅。而唯有如此，才能協助讀者回到在概念化下遭略讀的文本，探知小說結構中各項精巧安排的提示，以及敘事中時而絢爛、時而陰慘的色調，與主客觀穿梭的冥想與回憶等等足以彰顯其文學價值、突破典律規制的表意手法。
