| Abstract: | 「野性」等一系列詞組在歷史中各個論述場域被賦予不同內涵。從過去的「野蠻」他者到當代的「野性」復振，皆觸及了殖民、生態與性別等多重權力關係的交集。面對現代性的浩劫，當前「回歸『野性』」的政治策略，看似具有抵抗效能，但卻走在「特殊主義」與「陽性中心」的陷阱邊緣。本研究一方面透過系譜學方法追溯這個詞組在當代台灣文學中占據的重要位置，一方面透過文本的細讀與多重詮釋，發展酷兒化的野性認識論。
本研究認為野性在歷史中被偶然地建構，它不具備固定普遍的本質。為此，我以三組對象「女性」、「同志／酷兒」和「生態」討論。本研究發現野性的三種重要內涵：反認同、反幸福與反健全，並強調環境與邊緣族群的互生關係。本研究的批判性分析觸及浪漫化與時間性的命題，而不論是在人物形象或是敘事手法上，單一的「原初」皆被解構。我討論的文本以四本具代表性的台灣小說：聶華苓《桑青與桃紅》（1976）、白先勇《孽子》（1983）、邱妙津《鱷魚手記》（1994）和吳明益《複眼人》（2011）為中心。除作品外，周邊評論和批評也共同打造了「野性」論述的在地特殊系譜。
本研究在野性的意象之外，發展「再野」的觀看視角和認識框架，它並不冀望回歸前現代。當「酷兒」一詞漸失效力，「野性」展現持續抵抗理性邏輯秩序的潛能。
This thesis seeks to examine the knowledge production of “being savage/wild” in Taiwanese history. Appeared from the imaginary otherness to the subject of cultural revival, the “wildness” reaches the integrated multi-power relations among colonization, ecology, and gender. I address the question of the desire for “wildness” with a specific focus on how were those concepts linked, inherited, reframed, and flowed. Facing the disaster of modernity, this thesis contends that the contemporary political strategy like “(re)turning to the wild” seems to resist but runs the risks of particularism and phallocentrism. This thesis investigates the important position of the lexicon “wildness” in contemporary Taiwan literature through a genealogical critique and provides an epistemology of queering ferox through analysis of literary texts and close reading.
This thesis argues that “wildness” is a historically contingent construction, it does not come with a certain or universal essence. With this, the thesis explores three groups of subjects: women, homosexual/queer, and ecological writings, through three significant features of wildness: counter-identification, counter-happiness, and counter-ableism. The interdependency between environments and the marginal groups is also highly involved in this thesis. Though the critical reading of the romanticization and temporalities of “wildness” represented in the four of the most prominent Taiwanese novels──Nieh Hua-ling’s Mulberry and Peach (1976), Pai Hsien-yung’s Crystal Boys (1983), Qiu Miao-jin’s Notes of a Crocodile (1994), and Wu Ming-yi’s The Man with the Compound Eyes (2011), this thesis demonstrates the diversity of wildness and suggests that the homogeneous notion of “primitivity” has been challenged and deconstructed not only in the figures of protagonists but also in the narrative techniques. In conjunction with external research, such as relevant reviews and critiques, the literary works alike trace a specific and local genealogy of the discourse of “wildness”.
The thesis suggests a new epistemological framework of “rewilding” through a discussion of the term, leaving the idea of returning to the pre-modern far behind. While the term "queer" has been less effective due to the normalization of LGBTQ movements, “wildness” persistently shows the potential to resist the order of rationality and the current logic of rule. |
