    Abstract: 一九四九年是中華民國歷史上一個關鍵性的年代，中華民國政府從南京遷到了臺北；對蔣中正而言，一九四九年的失敗亦是他一生中最重大的一次挫折，但是他從挫折中再起，創造了他政治生涯中的另一個新的階段。蔣中正於一九五○年代初期，在許多公開或未公開的資料中都坦承一九四九年的變局是一次重大的失敗，同時也不斷的進行檢討，徹底研究失敗的原因。本文將就蔣中正在一九四九年一月下野之後，至一九五二年十月，中國國民黨改造完成、舉行第七次全國代表大會的四年間，所發表之演講、書告、專著，以及日記、函電等資料，進行內容分析，並比較其中的異同，以掌握蔣中正對於一九四九年大陸失敗的認知，同時期望藉由此項研究，能夠進一步理解檢討對於蔣氏在臺執政期間相關作為所產生的影響。
