    Abstract: 「映照」 (mapping) 或「連結」 (linking) 所指的是論旨角色 (thematic roles)在句法上的實質顯現，例如施事 (agent) 最普遍的句法連結是主語、受事 (patient) 是賓語。「連結」提供了語意和句法的介面，是自然語言中關鍵性的環節之一；因此，普遍語法中的一個重課題就是如何嚴格限制語言中的連結可能。其中最重要的幾項原則是θ-criterion (Chomsky 1981)、Uniformity of Theta Assignment Hypothesis (UTAH) (Baker1988)、以及Relativized UTAH (Larson 1988)。計畫採用之詞彙映照理論 (lexical mapping theory, LMT) 提出的簡明映照原則，實踐了以上的這些限制並且更加嚴格完整，但是卻也將施事賓語 (agent object) 排除在外。因此本計畫檢視漢語及達悟語，分析其施事賓語結構的詞法及句法內涵，研討參數化 (parameterized) 的連結原則，對LMT提出適當修正使其更合乎UG的要求。同時採用FrameNet的frame語意架構做詞彙語意的細部描述。本研究計畫因此有三個相關的目標。一、在詞彙功能語法 (Lexical Functional Grammar, LFG) 的架構下，以LMT對漢語中的幾種施事賓語 (agent objects) 結構提出解釋；二、在同一理論架構下，對於達悟語 (Tao，亦稱雅美語）句法中施事賓語及受事主語 (patient subjects) 的普遍現象提出解釋；三、基於從漢語及達悟分析中所得的證據，提出一個合乎普遍語法 (universal grammar, UG) 要求的連結理論 (linking theory)。計畫將分兩年進行。第一年建立初步理論架構並且解決漢語施事賓語的問題；第二年處理達悟語的連結問題並且以漢語及達悟語分析所得證據提出合乎普遍語法的連結理論。漢語中類似施事賓語的結構包括 (1) 中的數種。達悟語的連結摘要於 (2)。 (1) a. 一斤肉吃兩個人。 b. 一輛計程車坐四個人。 c. 這種藥會吃死你。 d. 這塊木頭已經鋸斷了三把鋸子。 (2) I.
