這篇文章主要探討梵語印度佛教經典與之種種意涵。文中明白指出梵語成為佛典與雖是違背佛陀最初的語言政策，卻是佛教僧眾經過一飯考量後的最終抉擇，而中間經過相當時間的演變過程。本文從佛陀對於佛言語傳播佛法的關係談起，再論佛教語言之變遷及最終加入梵語大都會所涉及一些問題。又，透過同為沙門傳承的耆那教對語言之使用當為參照對象，凸顯梵語做為經典語的出現對佛教所產生之深遠影響。 The paper explores the grave implication of India Buddhist adoption of Sanskrit as the canonical language.
