    Abstract: 本論文主旨在探討「蔣廷黻對中國近代史之研究及其貢獻」，全文分六章十七節，約
    十萬字。
    第一章為「緒論」，說明研究動機與目、研究範圍及研究方法與依據。
    第二章為「蔣廷黻的生平」，分「家世與早年」、「求學時期」、「治學時期」、「
    論政、從政時期」四節，陳述蔣氏多采多姿的一生。
    第三章為「蔣廷黻的重要史學著述」，介紹蔣氏「近代中國外交史資料輯要」、「琦
    善與鴉片戰爭」、「最近三百年東北外患史(從順治到咸豐)」及「中國近代史」四本
    著述的出版與內容概要。
    第四章為「蔣廷黻對中國近代史研究之見解」，分「以才識品德評近代歷史人物」、
    「以史學方法從事近代外交史之研究」、「以理智愛國論探討東北問題」、「以積極
    建設論倡導中國之現代化」、「以高度效率的新式專制論冀望中國政治」、「以經世
    致用的懷抱致力建國球國大業」六節，敘述蔣氏對中國近代史研究的一些見解。
    第五章為「蔣廷黻對中國近代史研究之貢獻」，分「倡導客觀態度解釋史實」、「將
    中國外交史研究導向學術化」、「揭露俄國偽善友誼的真相」、「講求經世致用樹立
    學人從政典範」四節，陳述蔣氏對中國近代史研究的貢獻。
    第六章為「結論」，就以上各章加以歸納。
    附錄為「蔣廷黻生平年表」及「蔣廷黻著作目錄」，為有意參閱或進一步研究蔣氏志
    事與其平生者，提供一點查閱資料上的方便。
