Title:	國際新聞學會與各國報業實務

Abstract:	國際新聞學會為實現改進新聞事業實際工作的目標，曾舉辦各種研討會；研討會按照兩個方向進行：一是發展報業，另一是援助開發地區國家報業之編輯和經營技術。為發展報業計畫而進行的研討會有分成兩類：一是供給被人經驗背景，如聯合國、原子能、歐洲統一問題等，二是討論專業問題和技術，如科學新聞、醫藥新聞等報導。一九五八年秋天，學會秘書長羅斯（E. J. B. Rose）與錫蘭分會主席兼學會執行委員會副主席威克美辛吉（C. E. L. Wickremesinghe）從事了六周的亞洲地區報業考量，發現亞洲報業非常需要編輯和經營方面的指導，於是以協助訓練亞洲報業工作人員的方式擬定了亞洲計劃。此計劃的成果除了讓參加研討會的幾家報紙增加發行量外，也產生了五個亞洲新聞學會：印度新聞學會、韓國新聞學會、菲律賓新聞學會、世界中文報業協會、印尼新聞學會。除了亞洲地區之外，國際新聞學會也在一九六三年開始推展非洲計劃，此計劃的貢獻包含替非洲國家推動大眾媒介的發展，也致力使非洲政治領袖們相信自由的報業和民意的自由表達是民族強壯和高度警覺性的象徵。
