    Title: 傳播媒介與國家發展－一個學術典範之消逝

    Abstract: 本文旨在介紹傳播媒介與國家發展的重要理論。本文指出，相關學者的共同點是他們都認為傳播是最根本的科技變化，所以要善用它來促進民主國家發展。以下為相關學者論點：(1)媒介是現代人格的「魔術擴散者」：冷納表示，增加工業化會提高都市化，提高都市化會提高讀書識字能力，提高讀書識字能力會提高媒介的使用，增加媒介的使用會促進經濟和政治生活的參與；(2)媒介能做的、能幫忙的：宣偉伯認為媒體可擴張視野，使傳統社會的人民把眼光放在將來以及現在的生活形態，並通過媒介來喚醒國家意識、促進國家整合；(3)傳播對農民現代化的衝擊：羅吉斯認為識字力強、教育程度高、社會地位高、年紀輕以及具有世界性眼光的農民，使用媒介的程度較高。本文批評，這些學者只宣稱媒介的好處，卻忽略了媒介在第三世界多半淪為社會控制的工具和保守的力量。
