Title:	關於「沉默螺旋」的一場筆戰－淺談意識型態與理論建構的關係

Abstract:	德國學者諾爾‧紐曼（Noelle-Neumann）與猶太裔美國學者鮑加（Bogart）的論戰衍生兩個問題，一是諾氏的個人政治信仰與團體屬性（如黨派）是否影響她的「沉默螺旋」理論建構過程？二是學者的「社會位置」──指個人的階級、地位、價值觀，乃至於在社會系統中所扮演的角色，是否影響了他（她）對真實世界的詮釋？本文簡短地介紹了「沉默螺旋」理論的建構過程，與追溯諾氏在研究過程中，如何詮釋「民意」概念並依此詮釋修正她對「民意的概念與研究方向」。本文描述了研究過程的歷史情況，並據此反駁鮑加聲稱諾氏理論合理化納粹政權統治的指望。「沉默螺旋」並非全無瑕疵，但是任何缺乏根據，或僅憑臆測的批判，徒然模糊問題。「沉默螺旋」有一定的侷限，但只有經過完整的證據蒐集，才有資格檢驗理論良窳，而這樣的討論，應該是奠基在共同的學術語言，而不是在「陰謀論」裡打轉。
