Abstract:	自2001年12月11日中國加入世界貿易組織已經有五年多了，進入了後過渡時期。在後過渡期關稅保護作用逐漸消退，非關稅措施即將全面取消，市場開放力度全面擴大。加入WTO對中國的影響是深刻的，全面的，對於區域經濟和社會發展的影響也是如此。加入WTO以後，作為大陸改革開放的前沿地區，長江三角洲的經濟和社會發展也獲得了新的動力，經歷了歷史上從未有過的高速發展，變化很大。2006年11月，國家發改委“長三角區域規劃”工作初步完成，長三角被定位為我國綜合實力最強的經濟中心、亞太地區重要國際門戶、全球重要的先進製造業基地、我國率先躋身世界級城市群的地區。在該規劃中，長三角包括上海、杭州、寧波、紹興、南京、無錫、常州、泰州、湖州、蘇州、鎮江、嘉興、舟山、揚州、南通和台州共16個城市。
