Abstract:	本文透過林衡道在《中央日報》等報的投書、專欄及回憶錄，探討林衡道的臺灣研究有何特性？又是如何呈現於大眾媒體？其個人生命經驗、社會環境如何影響他的臺灣研究？本文指出，林衡道的臺灣研究在報紙上，呈現出與政治環境相連動的情況。1970至1980年代初期，林衡道的臺灣研究，因個人與家族在戰前的親日立場，以及其戰後捲入的政治事件，使得他的研究必需完全服膺於國民黨政權，以免遭到迫害。他的研究大多強調臺灣與中國間的延續關係，有著濃厚的意識形態；到了1980年代中後期，因臺灣政治走入民主化的階段，林衡道臺灣研究的中國色彩遂開始大量消失，甚至出現批判國民黨過去文化政策的情況。由此看出林衡道臺灣研究的轉向，以及與政治相互動之情形。他個人與家族在戰後受到的壓抑，在民主化後的臺灣，透過臺灣研究回頭批判國民黨政權。
