Amid rapid technological advancement and increasingly diverse public cultural engagement, digital curation has become a vital means for cultural institutions to engage in dialogue with society. In today’s digital environment, curators face an ever-expanding range of information sources. Their curatorial work has evolved from simple data presentation to include complex tasks such as information seeking, semantic translation, exhibition design, and audience interaction. While previous studies on information behavior have largely focused on academic researchers, general users, or library patrons, little attention has been paid to the information practices of cultural professionals in digital curation contexts, indicating a gap in both theoretical and practical understanding.

This study explores the patterns and strategies of information behavior exhibited by curators throughout the exhibition development process. Focusing on the Open Museum of Academia Sinica as the research site, the study conducted in-depth interviews and case analyses of the curators on seven digital exhibitions. The research proposes a five-stage model of curatorial information behavior and highlights the critical influence of curatorial modes, platform technologies, and institutional contexts. In addition, it suggests practical tools such as an information inventory framework, curatorial module enhancements, and audience interaction mechanisms to inform both the theory and practice of digital curation.
