Abstract:	冷戰結束後的國際環境大幅變化，意識形態對立消失後，國家已不重視軍事議題，經濟議題取而代之。然後各國在相互間的經濟合作及區域合作上相當盡力。如此一來，新的國際社會裏有了容納中華民國再進去的空間，趁此機會，在李登輝總統領導下台灣推動「務實外交」。跟台灣在經濟、地理、歷史上有密切關係的日本在冷戰後改變以往的外交政策，開始摸索政治大國之道。由此對台灣的政策也發生大的變化，在經貿、文化學術議題上，日本逐漸開放與台灣官員的接觸。由於日本媒體有關台灣的報導大幅增加，輿論也主張重新探討與台灣的關係。本文從冷戰後國際環境變化的分析中，探討台日關係的發展、台日兩國的內部因素與交交政策的關聯性，以及兩國外交政策上的行為者與其角色。
