    Abstract: 英語中有一個比較特別的倒裝結構,語言學者稱之謂Y-movement , 其形式如下:A man and a woman came in .They looked a bit diso riented.We talked to the woman first .The man we ignored.(Givón ,1993, Vol .Ⅱ :183) 語法書通常認為其中提前的賓語是一般的“話題”,或者認為是“焦點話題”。這兩種提法都是片面的。其實,Y movement 結構中提前的那個名詞組,有時候是“對比話題”,有時候則是用來重新引進一個先前已經提到的“人、事、物”,以便充作話題,這里稱之為“重引話題”。本文將以漢語中相對應的結構,從“焦點”與“話題”的觀點,來比較其異同,以說明這個結構及英語其他倒裝句的正確意義及功能。
