Learning Chinese as a second language has become a world trend. Along with the increasing needs for Chinese learning among international students in Taiwan, it is significant to analyze students’ experiences in applying various kinds of digital resources to their language learning process. This study conducts in-depth interviews with 50 international students and 7 instructors from the Language Center of Fu Jen Catholic University. Analysis of the interviews reveals that the digital resources students use for Chinese learning are of diverse kinds. Most international students frequently use computers and are acquainted with the phonetic transcription system of Hanyu pinyin for Chinese word processing. For self-learning, students are used to seeking support from Chinese-learning digital tools with interfaces in their own native languages. Students are highly interested in gaining access to culture-related information through the surroundings, websites, and various modes of media. Particularly, international students find information related to local youth culture preferable to other themes. In addition, this study also presents an analysis of the common barriers international students frequently encounter during their Chinese-learning process and provides some suggestions made by language instructors for planning out Chinese-learning digital resources.
