Title:	Nostalgia memory and migration: The case of La mano del emigrante by Manuel Rivas

Abstract:	El presente estudio pretende analizar las nociones de nostalgia, memoria y migración en La mano del emigrante (2001) de Manuel Rivas. Este escritor y periodista gallego, en su libro, reúne una mezcla de diversos géneros, que entrelazan un relato de ficción, "La mano del emigrante", una colección de fotos realizadas por el autor, "El álbum furtive" y un relato periodístico, "Los náufragos". A pesar de su autonomía estructural, estas tres partes se relacionan con el tema de las experiencias fronterizas, en particular, tratando de una reflexión en torno a la construcción de la identidad gallega por parte del autor. De ahí que sea interesante explorar cómo Rivas reconstruye las vidas de emigrantes gallegos en Londres y los náufragos pescaderos a través de la alegoría de la trasplantación de la mano. Asimismo, se analizarán las fotos para explicar el fenómeno del desplazamiento de emigrantes gallegos frente a dos nociones paradójicas: el apego y la pérdida.
