Title:	因果關係與因果推理

Abstract:	社會科學非常重視因果關係，可是對『因果推理』這個概念本身卻有不少誤解。本文從邏輯學、心理學及統計學的觀點來探討因果關係的意義及因果推理的歷程；從邏輯學的觀點來看，人類並無一套標準化的程序可以用來輕易地「發現」因果關係，因果關係是來自於人類創造性的假設，而有價值的創造是根基於深厚的理論基礎的；從心理學的觀點來看，人類的因果推理受到諸多因素的影響，其中以「因與果之間的滋生傳導機制」最具關鍵性角色，這個機制需要一個理論來模擬；從統計學觀點來看，統計方法也不能用來「發現」因果關係，或決定因果方向，只能用來否證一個因果關係的假設，而這個假設仍然來自理論基礎。三種觀點收斂於一個結論；因果關係來自於理論，不來自於方法。
