    Abstract: 臺灣俗諺：「食果子，拜樹頭；食米飯，拜田頭」，拜樹頭、拜田頭，兩者都是在拜土地，在拜土地公（呂自揚，民83），實則強調飲水思源與不忘本的重要。中國人一向眷戀鄉里故土，「他鄉遇故知」尤其令人喜悅，而「人不親土親，河不親水親」、「鄉親遇鄉親，說話也好聽」更是對故鄉人的無限認同。王維：「君自故鄉來，應知故鄉事」，人與鄉土之間實有濃得化不開的情結，了解鄉土、關懷鄉土不僅是尋求歸屬的本能反映，更是教育的根著之處。基此，教育部（民82、83）修正發布之「國民小學課程標準」和「國民中學標準」，其總綱第壹條即分別揭示須輔導學生達成「愛家、愛鄉、愛國、愛世界的情操」與「陶冶民族意識及愛家、愛鄉、愛國的情操」之目標，並在國小三至六年級增設「鄉土教學活動」科，國中一年級則從八十六學年度起新設「認識臺灣」一科及「鄉土藝術活動」，以提供學生學習方言及鄉土文化的機會，以利課程生活化和本土化之落實，並利族群文化的保存。
