| Abstract: | The history of Korean Wave in Taiwan can be roughly categorized into four stages: initial stage, developing stage, prosperous stage and popularizing stage. From the late 1980s to the late 1990s, Korean singers started to make appearances in Taiwan. This stage can be defined as the initial stage. From the year 2000 to around 2006, Korean drama took the lead in the Korean Wave and makes great achievements in the developing period. Later on, Korean Wave’s prosperous stage is dominated by the K-POP force. From then on, with all the Korean brands and products circulating in the Taiwanese market, the Korean Wave eventually reaches its popularizing stage. With the understanding of Korean Wave’s history in Taiwan, it shows that not only Taiwanese people are gradually taking a liking to Korean culture but are also getting more and more familiar with it. However, many Taiwanese have mistaken the content of Korean Wave for the Korean culture itself. Thus, this misunderstanding has become a great obstacle for people to understand the authenticity of Korean culture. In addition to the popularity of Korean culture in Taiwan, there is also a development of Anti-Korean sentiment. This sentiment does not only pose as an obstacle between Taiwan and Korea’s communication but also brings about negative influences. The dispute and contradiction between Taiwan and Korea is not to be solved within a short period of time; nevertheless, finding solutions for improvement is necessary.
한류의 대만 진출 역사는 한류의 대두, 발전, 흥성과 확산 등 3가지의 단계로 나눠질 수 있다. 1980년대 말부터 1990년대 말까지 한국 가수들이 대만에 진출했을 때를 한류의 대두라고 정의하면, 2000년~2006년쯤에 드라마가 이끌어온 한류의 발전기이며, 신한류를 대표하는 K-POP이 흥행됨에 따라 한류의 흥성기라고 한다. 후에 한국을 브랜드로 삼아오는 한류가 전반적으로 대만에 확산되어 있고 대만인들이 한류문화를 수용하면서 한국문화에도 점점 익숙해진다. 하지만 한류에서 보여주는 한국 모습을 한국문화의 전부로 착각하는 대만 사람들이 많아 오히려 한국을 이해하는 데 지장이 된다. 본문은 대만인이 인식하는 한류 콘텐츠, 한국문화, 한국과 국인, 그리고 대만은 한류에 호응하는 현황 및 입장 및 반한류와 반한의 원인 등 6가지 현상에서 설문조사나 심층인터뷰를 통해서 전반적으로 한국에 대한 대만인의 인식을 검토하여 정리해 보았다. 대만인이 선호하는 한류 콘텐츠는 주로 드라마, k-pop, 영화 등 대중문화라는 협의적 한류이며, 한국문화에 대해 깊이 알지 못하고 있다. 한편, 대만에서 한류 열풍이 이루어지면서 대만의 반한 감정이 부각된다. 대만인에게는 단교가 아니라 ‘대만을 존중하지 않는다’‘일방적 교류’‘한류의 나쁜 영향’ 등이 반한의 주요한 원인이다. 반면, 대만에서 거주하는 한국인들에게는 ‘단교’‘열등감/질투’‘스포츠의 경쟁’‘언론의 문제’‘경제상 경쟁’ 등을 대만인이 반한 하는 원인이라고 생각하고 있다. 이 반한 감정은 양국 간의 교류에 부정적 영향을 미친다. 양국의 어색한 관계를 개선하는 해결책을 모색하는 것이 급선무이다. |
