A wide variety of teaching materials are being explored for use in conversation classes that aim to express opinions through speeches. In this paper, I analyzed and focased on impressions and opinions from learners by using picture books as conversational teaching materials that would motivate intermediate level readers who are working adaults to help express their opinions inspiringly. I used six picture books and asked learners about their opinions after reading them which I collected as analytical data. I analyzed it by the SCAT method. As a result, they were able to discuss abstract themes such as "love," "self," "family ties," "companions," and "life," which are not usually discussed in the classroom, and uttered their own ideas and opinions. In addition, a wide variety of opinions were reflected due to the connection between the life experiences of the learners and the picture books. One aspect of the picture book was seen as a teaching material that evokes learners` utterances.
