The issue of stigmatization of people with Schizophrenia is an important research issue, yet not much research has been conducted on the attitudes of university students towards stigmatization of illness (Chen & Lien, 2015). University students are the future masters of society and their attitudes towards disadvantaged groups are an important indicator of national literacy. Is there a difference in the attitude of university students towards mental illness between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait? This is an issue of further interest to this study. This study examines the attitudes of university students towards people with Schizophrenia in Taiwan and Mainland China. A total of 242 university students participated in this study using the Attributional Questionnaire for Persons with Schizophrenia (AQ-27), the Big Five Personality Inventory (TIPI-C), and the Self-affliction Tendency Scale (SATS). The differences in these variables and the relationships between the variables were compared between subjects from different demographic backgrounds. The results showed that men were more likely to have negative emotions towards schizophrenia patients. The higher the grade, the lower the degree of stigmatization. The degree of stigmatization of medical college students is lower than that of students of Arts, science and technology. Students with care experience is lower than that who have no contact and who have only learned from the media. In terms of personality traits, the higher the openness, the lower the degree of stigmatization. The more self-affliction tendency students are, the more serious stigmatization. However, in this study, no significant differences in the above measures were found between the university students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. As a result, suggestions for further research and practical work are put forward.
