    Abstract: 篇章主旨的建構是閱讀理解過程中很重要的一環,本文從認知角度闡釋 了有關理解論說文篇章主旨的理論和研究,探討影響主旨理解的因素,並針對能 力稍遜讀者的問題,提出一些具體的教學建議,藉著改善學生運用閱讀策略的技 巧和豐富他們的有關篇章結構的先前知識,以提高他們理解篇章主旨的能力。
    Main idea construction is one of the important tasks during thereading comprehension process. In this article, theories and empiricalresearch on main idea comprehension of expository text was reviewed fromthe cognitive perspective. Important factors that would affect the processof main idea comprehension was discussed . Focusing on the problem ofpoor readers, some practical teaching instructions were then recommendedto improve the reading abilities of poor readers through facilitating theirreading skills and prior knowledge about text structure.
