The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of the literature on archival studies in Taiwan. A total of 1,257 articles from 1959 to 2008 are identified and analyzed to address the characteristics from various aspects, including the growth of available literature, research subjects, authorship, and the distribution of journals. Results of this study reveal that the archival literature in Taiwan generally has been building up, though the statistics curve has developed with occasional irregularities. In addition, research subjects of the archival literature in Taiwan are primarily concentrated on archival and historical studies, particularly those connected to social sciences and Chinese history and geography. Concerning the aspect of authorship, the authorship is quite dispersive when the dynamics of productivity mainly consists of single authors, with an increasing trend toward co-authorship though. As far as the distribution of journals is concerned, Archives Quarterly is the major journal in Taiwan that publishes archival literature. Generally speaking, Bradford’s law is not applicable to the current distribution of journals related to archival studies in Taiwan.
