A growing expansion of micro-credentials is regarded as one of the significant manifestations of global higher education in the past decade, particularly during the disruptive period. With the nature of flexibility, competence based, meeting the need of labor market, higher education providers, private companies, non-profit organizations are interested in offering micro-credentials to their students as well as employees. Thus, the article aims to perceive the current development of the micro-credentials by examining the principles and guidelines published by European Commission, International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA). Second, the QA scheme and qualification recognition for micro-credentials are explored.
