This interview delves into the current research on domestic education policy and future research development directions at the National Academy for Educational Research (NAER) through an exclusive interview with Dr. Cheng, Yuan-Chuan, the president of NAER. It covers an analysis of current significant educational policies and future-oriented aspects, including the implementation and adjustment of curricula, the establishment of a national language corpus, discussions on international evaluation performances, revitalization of the national language, creation of a learning database, and the development of indigenous curricula in Taiwan. Through continuous and in-depth exploration of these issues, NAER aims to lay the groundwork for national education policy planning. Regarding the implementation and adjustment of curricula, the president further points out that the execution of the twelve year basic education program indeed enhances students’ literacy. Hence, future curricula will focus on consolidating literacy-oriented approaches, while advancing awareness of civic responsibilities, with prioritizing digital learning, English and international integration, as well as vocational and industry alignment, as the forefront and innovative focuses of curriculum development.
