Health responsibility is a resource for mankind to cope with risk factors and maintain emotional well-being. It also may have a positive impact on physical health and reduction of depression. The main purpose of this study is to explore the correlations among the Taiwanese self-reported health status, health responsibility, emotional well-being and depression. There are 1948 people stratified selected from Taiwan. Responses from a survey via questionnaires (“Health Responsibility Assessment Scale”, “Emotional Well-Being Scale” and “Taiwan Depression Scale”), of Taiwan residents aged 18 years and above, are used to explore the correlation among health responsibility, emotional well-being, and depression. The collected data was analyzed by structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings are summarized as follows: 1. There are positive correlations existed among the health responsibility and emotional well-being. 2. Health responsibility and depression have been shown to be negatively correlated with each other. 3. Path analysis reveals a negative relationship between emotional well-being and depression. Results of this study identify important influences useful to health professionals for promoting emotional well-being in Taiwan residents.
